This project is located in Wuxi, and the customer is a large research and production base for disposable medical device products in China. The customer's pain points include increasing business volume, increasing number of SKUs, and low manual picking efficiency. Based on this, the Wayzim engineering team has conducted on-site surveys and deployed the shuttle AS/RS based on multiple factors such as warehouse space layout, floor load capacity, overall efficiency, and operation costs, maximizing the use of warehouse space and meeting the customer's demand for as many storage locations as possible.

Increasing business volume and insufficient storage space
The customer‘s storage space is limited. With the increase in business volume, the problem of inventory backlog is more and more serious, which leads to an increase in storage costs. Therefore, it is urgent to introduce an AS/RS to realize more efficient inventory turnover and flexible storage layout and reduce space waste.

The number of product SKUs increases, difficult to meet the high timeliness requirement for orders
The demand for medical devices in medical institutions often has a high timeliness requirement. Therefore, rapid response and efficient distribution are very important. The complex picking path caused by the large number of SKUs makes it difficult for traditional picking methods to deal with the high timeliness requirement.

Manual picking is inefficient and error-prone
The speed of manual picking is limited, so it is difficult to meet the efficient and accurate processing needs of large-scale orders. Besides, problems such as wrong picking and missing picking are prone to occur in the process, which affects the accuracy of orders and customer satisfaction.
Solution

Based on customer needs, Wayzim has adopted highly automated dense storage technology to achieve fully automated inbound, conveyance, storage, and picking operations for medical devices, helping the customer improve picking efficiency and reduce operating costs.

In the Wayzim AS/RS, Vertical Reciprocating Conveyors are used to transport goods between multiple levels, and Pallet Four-Way Shuttles are used to flexibly place and pick up goods between storage locations. Warehouse Management System (WMS) and Warehouse Control System (WCS) are used for overall planning and scheduling, achieving efficient inbound and outbound operations.

Tailor-made, flexible adjustment of storage location height
The Wayzim engineering team has conducted on-site surveys to maximize the use of warehouse space and meet the customer‘s demand for as many storage locations as possible. The system connects logistics channels between floors and adopts an unconventional height design for the lowest level shelf of the AS/RS, realizing on-demand customization.

Protective wall for safety protection
The project is equipped with self-developed fireproof charging piles. If a fault occurs during the charging process, an alarm is triggered immediately, protecting the operation process. After a shuttle is connected to the fireproof charging pile, a protective wall immediately falls. If a fire is accidentally caused during the charging process, the fire can be effectively contained within the space enclosed on all six sides, limiting the spread of the fire to a large extent.

3DMS for dynamic feedback on operational statuses
The system can display real-time and intuitive information about the tasks being performed by the devices, the quantity of inventory in each location, the type and status of the tasks, and the real-time location of the devices. The system uses dynamic color changes to highlight the operating status of the devices. If a mechanical error occurs on the equipment, users can quickly and accurately locate the abnormal equipment, quickly resolve the problem, and restore equipment operation.
